Real good sports day...

Today was a real good sports days and a day of firsts.

Leading off, I did the play-by-play of the Holy Spirit - St. Joe game in Hammonton. Went pretty much as I expected, Spirit beat the Wildcats 48-7 and it could have been worse. The loss was the first time the Wildcats had lost in 37 games. What a tremendous run for coach Paul Sacco and his program, but it was stopped by the same team that last beat them; Holy Spirit. Give Holy Spirit Head Coach Bill Walsh credit. His team was sloppy early, but they settled down and took care of business. They were the better team and they showed it, the only question is left for them is, can they finnaly win that state title? They will have home-fiel;d advantge now beacuse of this win.

Next, sitting first at the Philadium, then in the Sixers media room watching Navy beat Notre Dame...first time in 44 years. LOVE IT! And everyone in the room loved it to.

As I write this, I am sitting at the Sixers game with producer Matt Martucci, Pete Thompson from NBC40 and a host of others at the opener. As you can see in an earlier blog, I am not to optimistic about this season, but beating the Bulls in Chicago shows me there is somethign there. Will the make the playoffs? Doubt it...but they might not be as bad as we thought. BTW...I really like Reggie Evans, he plays hard.

Random thoughts....

- Crowd isnt to bad...but its the opener, its going to be EMPTY in there this season at the Wachovia for the Sixers games.

- There was over 4000 people in attendence at the HSHS-St. Joe game.

- While eating dinner tonight, we sat next to maybe the greatest table of guys cheering agaisnt Notre Dame. It was classic South Philly.

- Check back later for my Eagles preview...I am going to write that at halftime of the Sixers game.

Also...check out the show Monday live from Chickie's and Pete's for the Chris Gocong show from 7-8
